Hey guys, after about 6 years of pursuing music as a profession in the performing, teaching, production and composing aspect of it, I am finally recording my debut album. Here's the best part of it - there is going to be two of them!
I have had the amazing privilege of performing with some of the best local and international musicians. Through this journey I am discovering the sound that makes my music unique and authentic. Being able to find the musicians to form this project and express that sound is a huge blessing. My aim is to release music that everyone who listens to can find a little bit of themselves in, which has been a huge part of my musical journey.
The first project will be an acoustic modern jazz fusion set up. This project will feature Patrick Terbrack on the saxophone who hails from the USA, who in his short 5 years here has already established himself as a significant musicians in the region. Tim Quicke on the trumpet who hails all the way from the UK, and on the guitar is Hor Chee Seng who is one of the most talented young musicians our country has ever produced. Holding down the bass will be the formidable Daniel Foong who is one of the most sought after musicians in the country. Finally on drums, will be the great Arthur Kam who has gained much international recognition and acclamation for his playing. I will play both the rhodes and piano on this one.
The second project I am producing is going to be an organ quintet. Apart from Tim and Chee Seng who will be featured on this record as well, this quintet will also feature Julian Chan on the saxophone who is a little bit of a local legend that has travelled locally and abroad extensively as a performer and educator. On the drums will be Steve Nanda who is no stranger to the music scenes around the region. I will be playing the organ on this EP.
Here's an update on what we've done so far -
So far we have completed the first EP and are currently working on the 2nd one. The first one (titled Eager Expectation) is due to be released by the end of October/early November, while the 2nd one is due to be released early next year.
I would like give a huge shoutout to those of you who have already contributed. Without your help we wouldnt be able to get to where we are in the recording stages. For those who would still love to contribute, I have GREAT NEWS! The duration of the crowdfunding has been extended for 2 more weeks which gives us till the 10th of September, so you have plenty more time to contribute and promote this project for others to get on board!
It is my great and fortunate pleasure to be able to collaborate with some very great musicians. I am very excited to see how this project materialises and for this sound to spread all around the world. This is an amazing opportunity for you to partner with me and see a long conceived dream come into reality!
One of the biggest risks and challenges in this project is our short time frame. However we will be putting in the hardwork needed to make the music the best it can be! Your support will definitely bridge many gaps for us.
